How to write an article?

This article is for those who first decided to publish the results of their scientific research. To look good in the eyes of your scientific colleagues, you need to follow a few simple rules for writing scientific articles. Today scientific articles are written not only by scientists, graduate students, but also by students and even schoolchildren. The genius of our young generation no longer surprises anyone. But so that no one doubts your genius, you must at least learn to present yourself competently.

If you want to write a scientific article that will be published, in demand and noticed by researchers and your colleagues, you must adhere to a clear plan, follow the recommendations of your supervisor and our article.

What is a scientific article?

First of all, let's define what a scientific article is. A scientific article examines one or several interrelated problems of a particular topic. We can say that a scientific article is a full-fledged mini-research on a certain narrow topic.

The following types of scientific articles are distinguished:

  1. Scientific-theoretical - describing the results of research carried out on the basis of a theoretical search and explanation of phenomena and their patterns.

  2. Scientific and practical (empirical) - built on the basis of experiments and real experience.

  3. Survey - devoted to the analysis of scientific achievements in a particular area over the past few years.

A scientific article involves the presentation of their own conclusions and intermediate or final results of their scientific research, experimental or analytical activities. Such an article should contain author's developments, conclusions, recommendations.

This means that, first of all, a scientific article should have the effect of novelty: the results presented in it should not have been published earlier. By publishing a scientific article, the author secures a priority in the chosen field of research.

Basic principles of creating an article

  • A competent scientific article should be focused on a specific target audience. If your data is needed by a narrow circle of specialists, indicate it in the introductory part.

  • A scientific article should not look like a collection of excerpts from different studies with your conclusions at the end of the work. The article is completely your research, in which you only rely on a theoretical basis.

  • A scientific article is necessarily based on fundamental research, is based on already known achievements, while revealing new facts and observations. Refer to statistics, works of other scientists. If you only state your own opinion on the problem, your observations, albeit valuable, but do not rely on a theoretical basis, the article will cease to be scientific. Pay attention to new materials. It is desirable that the scientific article contains references to works published within the last year.

  • The article should not be too scientific, difficult to understand. Use terms and complex names as needed, explain the meaning of new words in science.

  • Expanding the problem of your article, be sure to briefly highlight the development of scientific thought on this issue. Even if the problem you have posed is absolutely exclusive, it can still, in one way or another, be associated with a specific area, direction of science.

  • Do not try to "embrace the immensity." The best option is when a certain aspect of the problem is covered in a scientific article, and the topic is narrow enough. Divide the text into sections, paragraphs - so it will be much better perceived.

  • The article should have a clear logical structure. Keep track of the correspondence of the title, topic and content, do not deviate from the issue in question.

  • Try to logically bring the presentation of the material to the final conclusions, correctly and succinctly state them. It is the conclusions that contain the main scientific value of the article, and observations, arguments and evidence support them.

  • Before writing, plan a scientific article. It should be logical and thoughtful. The plan includes:

    • Title (in native and English)

    • Annotation (in native and English languages)

    • Keywords (in native and English languages)

    • introductory part:

    • the main part - it is desirable to highlight subsections in it;

    • the final part containing conclusions;

    • references and / or bibliography.

It is better to start with the main part, then proceed with the preparation of the introduction and conclusion.

Article title

The title of the article should reflect the content of the article and attract the interest of readers. Just like the text of the article itself, the title is written in a scientific style and reflects its content as accurately as possible. The title of an article should not exceed 10-12 words.

The main mistake of the title is if it is too general and does not reflect the main content of the article. The title does not reflect the essence of the issue in question and is misleading to the reader

Bad example: Labor Protection, Sberbank of Russia

A good example: Features of drawing up a statement of changes in equity in accordance with Russian and international standards

Remember, you are writing a scientific article, not a journalistic one. Sensational and inviting headlines are not suitable here!

Bad example: “Global warming! How much do we have left? "

Good example: "The negative impact of technological progress on the environment and methods of combating global warming"

annotation

Annotation is required. The abstract should be short, but meaningful. No more than 500 characters (4-5 sentences)

Keywords

Key words can reflect the main provisions, results, terms. They should be of some value for expressing the content of the article and for its search. Both individual words and phrases can be used as keywords. Usually it is enough to select 5-10 keywords.

Main part

Your scientific research

List of sources used

Be sure to include all the sources from which you borrowed information. Do not forget! Copyright infringement is punishable by law!

Check your text completely again. Pay attention to the accuracy of the facts, the consistency of presentation, consistency, the connection between the topic and the conclusions. Now you can start preparing a scientific article. In the process of work, carefully follow the instructions, publication requirements, publication conditions. For a scientific article, competent design is very important.

Do not forget to indicate the UDC at the very beginning!
